Community Profile:
Antis Township's 6,176 residents receive 65% of their drinking water from groundwater. Groundwater resources are currently threatened by the karst geology of the area which provides pollutants an easy pathway to the public water supply. Although progress has been made in expanding access to public sewage and water, there is still significant well water contamination.
Result Oriented Activities:
- Drafted a Groundwater Protection Ordinance and discussed the passage of the ordinance with the Township Manager and the Board of Supervisors.
- Completed a series of webpages on the community's website that includes information about pollution sources, contamination prevention, local government remedies, and related issues.
